Desert Bloom Phoenix #2: Beats and Brushes

This morning I received an email from someone that had read about Gangplank and was interested in learning more. The emailer said they had come by on Friday night to check out the area and were completely shocked  and pleased by what they saw.

Massive canvases with 8-10 artists per station, throwing paint around in strange patterns. The doors reverberated from the sub woofers, as various DJs battled it out. Random strangers sharing vegan cupcakes and barbecue sliders, while shouting introductions and trading ideas over the sounds of mixed 70′s Motown.

This, is the second installment of the Desert Bloom Phoenix series, ‘Beats and Brushes’.

More than 150 people gathered at Gangplank to experience a the unique combination of music and art. Professional artists sketched rough drawings on canvases, then invited the public to add their touch. Attendees were invited to bid on the evolving pieces, with three going to private individuals and one being donated to Gangplank.

The evening lasted well into the night and no individual walked away the same. Gangplank is pleased to provide the space and thanks the following individuals for organizing the event:

Nicholas DiBiase & Hepnova
Brandon Mason
Brandon Franklin
Greg Taylor &  GRT2 Studios
Jason Garcia
Jason Ayers
Shauna Stacy

Also a big thanks to Joe’s Real BBQ and 24 Carrots for providing food for the event.
