Gangplank Book Club Returns!

After an extended absence, the Gangplank Book Club returns March 29th at 6:30pm.

Led by John Webster and Hamilton Wallace, the goal is to be a book club without guilt. That is, participants don’t have to have read the book to be engaged in the conversation – being interested in the topic is enough. There is so much information around every topic, there’s no reason to limit how a person contributes to having read a particular book. The book can be a point of departure rather than the destination. The club plans to meet monthly, either in person at Gangplank Chandler or via one of the screen sharing/video platforms. They also hope to use online tools to build community around a book or topic (Google Docs, GoodReads, etc.) that allows for interaction and learning between meetings.

The first book is “Steve Jobs” by Walter Isaacson. Event RSVP.

  1. Great meeting last night. Thanks to everyone who showed up and contributed. It was a great platform to discuss everything from Apple’s lawsuit against Samsung, how Apple eclipses seemingly equally talented companies on product design, to does massive success require monumental dickishness on the part of the company leader.

Next book: Drive, by Daniel Pink (

    Date: TBA
