Collaboration over Competition
If the web developers in the Queen Creek space all competed for contracts, I would be out of a job. Luckily, one of Gangplank’s core values is Collaboration over Competition. This value allows us to learn each others’ strengths and pass on leads accordingly. I am beyond grateful for this way of thinking in a community because it has allowed me to become a full-time freelancer, and I have never been happier in my career.
Initiative Spotlight: Local
Providing support to grow our local economy is an important initiative of Gangplank, you can read more about it here.
Schmear: Interviews & Mural
Gangplank gets most of its fuel from caffeine and carbs, so partnering with the new bagel and coffee shop, Schmear, was a no-brainer.
The owners, Lindsay and Matt, were able to host interviews in Gangplank’s conference rooms while their storefront was being completed. Having an influx of about 50 guests into the space throughout the week was a lot of fun; community members were able to help calm the pre-interview jitters by having mock interviews, introducing them to the space, and providing an energetic environment. In the mock interviews we offered tips on how to have a successful interview (apologies to the ones that didn’t research the airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow).
Once the interviews were complete, Lindsay and Matt were able to do a deep dive into the offerings at Gangplank. After discovering the vinyl cutter they commissioned one of our regulars, Lisa, to design and cut out a 21ft by 8ft mural.

Guy’s Hulkbuster Costume
For Halloween of 2018 one of our regular members, Guy (aka, Magnetic Pigeon Head on Instagram), built a 9ft Hulkbuster costume. Phoenix Fan Fusion took notice of this awesome costume and offered Guy a booth at the event to show off the work of art. Stay tuned for his 9 foot, 3D-printed dragon head.
